I need to play more boardgames. For a while, I went to random groups (via Meetup.com) to play boardgames with varying success. I have friends that are into it too, but distance and scheduling become an issue. But I should actively try to get back into gaming.
I think aligning playing styles is critically important to finding a good RPG group. I'd say I'm very by the book, numbers and strategy based in my playing. But with that said, I do like when the DM gives some wiggle room for creative uses of abilities. Although I've played in groups (or with players) that go too much into a more free roleplaying system (and that doesn't take much in my mind since I'm very rules based or "lawful"). It just means finding the right balance that works.
And the astronomical society sounds neat. I've always wanted to get into stargazing and except for one summer haven't had much success. But it sounds great to find a group to try to try!
No worries :) Thank you for responding! I am feeling a good deal better, but still have some things going on. Got a doc appt tomorrow to look into them and I'm super nervous, but trying to remain optimistic.
