Tourism Fail

I might be the world's most sad tourist. When I went to Japan a few years ago, I was sick for most of the trip and did a lot of just hanging around in bed with media and friends. Here I am in the UK, and I had all these plans to do walking tours of Huddersfield while darksideofstorm was at work, and instead I've been sick, hanging around in bed reading and ( Read more... )

Ok, also... Do you need the accepting your limits lecture? Because I can boot it up for you if necessary. God knows, I've been wrestling with it myself this week.

And, we've been streaming news from Egypt this morning.

*hugs*

And you got three things done today! My therapist recommends two goals/day. So you're a superstar!

But I looked ahead and saw that you had a great time in London. Wonderful!

The math problem can be solved very simply as follows. Suppose B is your birth year. Assuming you were born in the 1900s, the last two digits are B-1900.

Add to this your age in 2011, which is 2011-B. The sum is:

B - 1900 + 2011 - B

The B's cancel, and 2011 - 1900 is 111.

If you were born in 2000 or later, the result can be shown always to be 11 by a similar calculation. As stated, the problem assumes that the target (victim?) of the puzzle was always born in the 1900s, which was probably a pretty safe assumption when the problem was formulated. However, this will clearly be less and less true as time goes on.
