Another shitty day in the office. Detective Chief Superintendent Samuel Tyler wasn't quite happy with his job. He thought it was boring. Sitting in the office was far worse than wandering the streets in uniform. He was in a meeting during the afternoon but he couldn't quite concentrate on his colleague’s words, his mind was wandering about that

Wow, you have some lovely ideas going on here; a really unusual story.

I love the idea of the very calm and very white place being "the edge of his mind", and young Ruth being there to make him re-think his decision is great.

Sam stood again amidst the ruins of his imaginary Birmingham That is a wonderful image, very powerful.

I do hope everything will be OK for Sam and Gene in the last part!
