I should also add something that states that I am by no means trying to diminish the seriousness of what happened and am equally enraged by the whole situation. Sorry 'bout that.
on one hand, i respect your ability to say something in such poor taste (as a staunch proponent of poor taste). & therefore lose respect for you due to your addendum. however, on the other hand, i admire the addendum, since i find myself quite affected for some reason by this news story, in a way i don't normally find myself affected. so i respect the addendum that i also don't respect. so is that 2 respects - 1 respect? are the respects equal in value, or is the second respect worth more? some respect, at least, coming your way in an as-yet-undefined quantity.
So much jibber-jabber... and since the joke was in relation to your mentioning of Mars and not of the incident itself, I like to think it was very very witty.
I kid. Anyhow, I totally agree that it is a very affecting story, especially when hearing wbout how this man died. It is a strange situation, thinking there are suicide bombers around and operating on a 'shoot-to-kill' level. The fact that he was innocent proves the system is less-than-perfect at best. The fact that he was shot five times in the head once he was already restrained is fucking putrifying.

But I digress. Back to the thesis.
