I'm trying not to get too hopeful. I worry for what they will do to the story, and how they will make it more marketable to a general audience. There are some adult themes in there and I feel like they are important to the story. Plus, there is not traditional style happy endings in this story.
What I suspect: we will get graphically beautiful "oh, that is just like from the comics" kind of stuff to look at, but that the story will be cleaned up, stripped down, and lacking the punch of the source material. As typical.
I've been waiting for this film since I was 17 years old, and my BF at the time gave me the graphc novel to read. The trailer literally gave me chills. In a very good way. I'm excited.
I'm still kinda worried. That's a fuckton of plot to try to shoehorn into a 3-hour movie without it turning into complete gibberish, and "300" was the incarnation of pretty-but-stupid.
And goddamnit, Laurie Juspeczyk is a middle-aged woman.

However, I really hope I am wrong.

They certainly got the look right, but boy am I untrusting of the ability to treat the story right.

Doc Manhattan looks perfect though.
