My family has used pressure cookers for more than fifty years, albeit the gas-cooktop kind.

They can be *so* handy :-)

May you have very great joy of it!

We have tried the pumpkin seed beans with our new pressure cooker. We can't seem to get them as soft as they should be, but perhaps we just need more than 50 minutes. Key flavors are sweet spices, brown sugar, and some sort of pork (we used salt pork).

I have two low-tech pressure cookers and I loooove them.

No links to recipes, but I recommend Cooking Under Pressure by Lorna Sass. Apparently she's also written another, Great Vegetarian Cooking Under Pressure, though in reality, if you just substitute vegetable broth or stock for chicken stock in the recipes in Cooking Under Pressure it would almost qualify as vegetarian (not many of the recipes call for actual meat or poultry).

And I do realize you aren't vegetarian, it's just that when I did a quick google to provide a link of some sort, the newer, vegetarian book was near the top of the list.
