I got "oreo" from black kids, and "zebra" from white.

Mia's a cold hearted bitch, is what she is.

Icon shows my favorite cookie! I liked to eat both sides to about 1/4" from the center line, and then chomp down the center at the end.

She has an adoption addiction that is about needing to be needed and needing to be in control. I have some stories about her that will make your hair unkink. (HA HA! Get it? Like when other people say "make your hair curl?! I slay me :)

But seriously. Cold. Maybe in a locked post I'll talk about it. Wouldn't want to get sued for defamation.

This post is amazing, and difficult and brave. One thing I think white people do'nt always understand is that talking about being a victim of racism is exposing yourself to a lot of vulnerability. It's sayin g"hi here is where I was wounded" and sometimes people go "oh that wasn't a wound at all" and then you want to stab them in the face repeatedly ( ... )

Thank you for all this. Yes, yes, and yes. I'm glad we're on each others flists now...

It's funny, my grandmother on my fathers' side was my skin color, with grey eyes and bleached blonde straightened hair @.@ My great aunt - her sister - wore her hair natural and also had light eyes. If you asked Nana what she was, she said she was black. If you asked Aunt Elsie what she was, she said Native American. You can see the native in both their faces - they look like sisters, so it's funny that they identified completely differently from one another.

I am a "semi" only child - I have a half brother and a half sister, both of whom are 15 years older than I am. Their mother is African American and we share our Dad, who IDs as Black, but is Irish, Nanticoke and African.

Identity is a slippery and weird thing. I'm going through my family pictures now, and my family on that side is so multihued. It's fascinating.
