I was sitting on the deck in the back yard after work yesterday, reading and enjoying the weather. The birds were singing, new leaves on the trees, wispy white clouds in the blue sky overhead. All good reasons to feel happy and alive.

We got poured on at the parade, though we had a great time and caught a ton of stuff! The rest of Satur. seemed to focus on food: took Jenny out to supper at Jack Dempsey's Restaurant, met up with Damian at the Milan Lounge, grabbed a bite to eat at Saint Charles Tavern, then got buttermilk drops for Sun. breakfast at Tastee Donuts in Westwego. The kids seemed to enjoy their Saint Charles streetcar ride yesterday; we saw plenty of evidence of the previous day's parade: beads in the trees, cabbages on fence spikes, et cætera.
