Tropes and other topics

Some moments I feel as if I have a hundred topics, and then I open a window and they all fall down.

Our last booking which ended today was a group of kids in gymnastics who appeared to have absolutely unlimited energy. (I can barely imagine. The last two days I had off here I slept 12 hours each day and might have slept more if I hadn't wanted to ( Read more... )

Speaking of Twilight... jadonster August 9 2008, 09:28:06 UTC
I stumbled upon the trailer for the movie the other day. Supposedly, it'll release mid-December.

Good parody is great, especially if the details are perfect! Mind you, I recently saw a mockumentary by Awkward Pictures about the grossest "trailer" (thankfully, I've only heard it described) that people reveled to make others watch for their reaction. The lesson: Cups should be held, not devestated.

I'll probably watch the movie, but preferably in a dark and nearly empty theater so I can heckle at will.

Actually about the only parody I don't like is mockumentary.

I just finished reading Shadow Puppets. Or Shadow of the Hegemon. I'm not actually sure which one it is because it had a different title on the back... Probably Shadow Puppets though because it seems like they would be more likely to overlook a mistake on the back than the front. Good times. I'll get to Shadow of the Giant when I get back from Camp. I didn't like Shadow puppets as much as some of the other books though. Speaker for the Dead was great.

I also read a fantasy book by OSC called Hart's Hope. WORST BOOK EVER! Seriously, don't read it.

Shadow Puppets I think is the book I liked least of the Enderverse series. Shadow of the Giant is pretty interesting so far. Nice balance of politics and personal stuff, which I think is Card's strong point.

Speaker for the Dead is easily on my top 25 list for books.

I think I tried some non-Enderverse book of Cards and hated it from the get-go. I don't think it was that one though. There's one other book of his that I love called Treason.

OSC is right up there on my list of writers. When he bombs, he bombs, but when he gets it right it's excellent stuff.
