Things I quite enjoyed that you have not greyed out: Snow White and Rose Red; Who Fears Death; several things by Octavia Butler; The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden; several things by Mercedes Lackey (but she's kind of a guilty pleasure for me).

I love love love love love Doomsday Book (it doesn't have a "the").

Other things I have read, either you have read them or I wouldn't particularly recommend them.

Oh, and I liked The Wild Swans at the time, but I have only fuzzy recollections of it now. It is probably also worth noting that I really enjoyed The Mists of Avalon when I read it, but I think you kind of have to be fourteen to get the full effect. Also, it's long.

I still have your copy of Doomsday Book. But there's still hope for me, though--Juliet lent me her copy of Possession 10 months ago and I just finally finished it.

Thanks for the rest of your recs!

...I have the Mists of Avalon and have been meaning to read it forever. I am really impressed with how many books you've read on here.

I don't really have recommendations. :/ But I can say anything and everything by Rudyard Kipling is wonderful. ...And I do love Jack London.

Yes.

Yeah, the Jungle Book is something I somehow never read while growing up. Have you read Call of the Wild?

More than once--it was one of my favorites when I was a kid, haha. White Fang, too. His short stories are interesting as well!

These lists make me a little sad, because there are so many books on them that (I think) I'd like to read, but I don't have the time yet...

I really like The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova. It's not really one of the best books I've read, but there's something about it that keeps making me want to read it again.

Also, Beauty Queens by Libba Bray? I read the Kindle sample, and I could feel my brain melting. It was a painful experience.

I've actually heard good reviews of Beauty Queens--I hear it's not what you'd expect. However, I don't think we always like the same books, so of course your mileage may vary :)

Am undecided on the Historian, like I always am on super long books. It took me forever to read A.S. Byatt's Possession (10 months to start it and 3 weeks to finish).
