The thirteenth essay (and a short one) - have fun reading! ^_^

#13: Myojo 2007-07 - Laugh

When I take another look at the essays I wrote lately, I realized that somehow they're almost all about serious matters, about painful feelings, so this time I'd like to talk about something casual. Well, even though I say this, what the hell IS something casual!! Katô Shigeaki doesn't know what to do. Since I got lost when I thought about the meaning and since I want to write about something funny, I decided to write about the topic "laugh".

Moments when I laugh. There are plenty of those. When I'm together with my friends and we get excited over some stupid story. When I remember some nonsense a friend of mine spouted. When I smile at seeing the beautiful cherry blossoms of spring. When I explode into laughter while watching some variety show. When I'm feeling bashful while watching the scene of a middle school couple shyly holding hands. I smile and laugh so many times a day that I'm wondering at the sheer amount (of course there are also less happy times).

The time I laughed most recently was at Koyama's words during the NEWS concerts from February to April. This time, each of us separately addressed the fans at the end of the concert, and we talked about our feelings now that we are back after the long time of no joint activities. This is a moment when you're supposed to say serious words of thanks.

Tegoshi: "There were also bitter times, but that we can be here together now is all thanks to you fans. Please keep on supporting us from now on too!"

Masuda: "Like 'Hoshi wo mezashite' says, guided along by the fans we will continue to give our best. Thank you very much for today!"

In a manner like this, each of us talked one after another, the last one to talk was Koyama.

Koyama: "We put you through a lot of trouble. But we won't betray you again!"

Everyone thought, 'wow, he says some pretty good things'. But then...

Koyama: "I can't say goodbye to you guys. Thank you! ... Goodbye!"

He's saying goodbyeeeeeee!! He's said it alreadyyyy!! Backstage, all the members exploded with laughter. Somehow that's so typically Koyama... But he certainly got his feelings across.

In such a manner, I'm laughing everyday while watching or remembering something... It's fun to laugh, isn't it. Or is it rather I laugh because it's fun?

But I also like to make other people laugh. When I hear a funny story, I feel the urge to tell it to others, and I already told lots of people about Koyama's words. When I see someone else laugh, I also feel like laughing. On the other hand, when I see someone who feels sad, I also become sad. Be it a smile or a sad face, both infect other people as well. In order to make everyone laugh, I want to grow up into a baka adult who can tell baka stories.

The Rough (casual) story turned into a story about Laugh (laugh). Sorry that it is so meaningless. *laughs*

[Note: The pic below the essay shows Shige holding several fanletters. For his essay about "Bonds" - #11 - he received a lot of mail, since a lot of people could connect to the points he raised in this essay. Myojo also congratulates him - his thirteenth essay marks over two years of essays for Myojo.]
