We hope your summer was the best! Our certainly was the best, we did a great job. And we have some good news!

Ban 'Em All!

One of the most common requests to support was about avoiding ban in other journals. If you ban somebody they still could reply to your comments in other journals and communities. Very unpleasant experience. We fixed that.

It's a good start, but as the faq states it will not keep said users from posting against you anonymously in other journals if the post you comment in allows anonymous comments (of have I read that wrong?)

So, if User A has banned User B, the latter won't be able to comment on the prior's comments in the journals of User C, User D and unlimited number of third party journals.. Thus User A can impose restrictions on the activities of User B in all the third party journals where (s)he appears, even if the owner of any given third party journal owner doesn't have any restrictions concerning user B. Holy… brainers :(

The approach to user's privacy here is different from FB. LJ does not hide users from each other.
Now they try to reduce harassment, but the effect of this measure is zero. User B still sees comments of User A, so User B may take some action to harass User A (for example, anonymously, by logging in as another user, by referencing him/her in lower levels of discussion).
I don't think you can reduce harassment without hiding a user completely.

What's stopping a bigger file size for gif icons?

No vitriol, just curiosity (and frustration).

YES! I tried to upload a gif icon not long ago and it was literally just over the limit. FRUSTRATING!
