LiveJournal is 18!

Apr 14, 2017 16:17

On April 15, 2017, LiveJournal is turning eighteen. In fact, LJ has two birthdays: March 18, 1999 (when Brad Fitzpatrick published his first post) and April 15, 1999 (when he registered livejournal.com domain).

For an Internet project, 18 years is no joke. Today LiveJournal is among the biggest blogging communities in the world. We have collected the most important figures in our Birthday infographics, where active users can get personalised blog statistics to share in their LiveJournal posts or social networks.

And look who is back! Frank, the famous LiveJournal mascot, finally quits chewing wires and
starts blogging again! Find out what Frank really looks like and subscribe to his journal.

We have prepared a few presents for our birthday. For example, starting today, you can insert hashtags in your posts - they are automatically added to the entry's tags, like in this post: #lookwhosback. Moreover, if the posts are public, they will appear in search results for the hashtags they contain. Hashtags work both in entries and in comments. More information about tags is available in FAQ.

We are also offering 18% discount on all items in LJ Shop (except LJ tokens). The discount is valid until April 30.

We have many other important updates to bring you this year. Wish us luck!
