Update on Release 88

Thank you for your continued feedback about our latest release.  Today, we have some small updates to share with you:

• A patch has been released that should address a few of the major bugs with expanding comments, as well as other Ajax features. This should help with some of the functionality issues some of you have been experiencing.

Aaaaaaaand it IS only for plus/paying users/comms. You might have POINTED THAT OUT before I bothered with Support.

While I point out again that I quit paying you years ago when it became abundantly clear you people have no business sense or ethics whatsoever. I won't pay, ever. Nor will I ever change my accounts to plus, since I know ad revenue is far more important to LJ than my actual money.

I'm very sorry -- I honestly did not know that the use of customized comment pages was not available to Basic accounts. As Tech Support is not my main area of work for LJ, I don't always know offhand all of the nuances to things about the account levels.

I've put in a ticket that customized comment pages be made available to Basic accounts as well, and will let you know if that is approved.

Thank you for going out of your way for us. I know this workaround isn't what any of us actually want -- we want the release rolled back -- but thanks for trying to extend it to basic accounts as well. I appreciate your effort.

I would very much like to know if this is approved, as I am having quite a lot of trouble browsing LJ on my netbook. I can't afford paid time, so any "perks" that are made available to basic users are appreciated.

And once Basic accounts have access to customized comment pages, that is one fewer reason to have a plus/paid account! Congratulations on shooting yourselves in the wallet, LJ.

Well, imo the number of people that prefer even 15 userpics that plus provides to the what, 6(?) that basic does, probably outnumber the amount of people who stick with basic just not to see ads and whatnot. So I wouldn't really consider it shooting themselves in the wallet by any stretch of the imagination.

Thank you for all of your replies and keeping people up to date! I know it can't be easy dealing with all the unhappiness and some of the vitriol that accompanies that (especially when you probably know as little as we do about some of this stuff and aren't allowed to say anything about other things), but it really is appreciated.
