To expand on what ladyvox said, someone reported being directed into the inbox of someone's selling journal, where their buyers had PM'd them their mailing address and paypal information.

It doesn't have to be bank infos. What about personal problems that shouldn't be known to most people?
Something like this should never happen. And if it does, it should be addressed accordingly. :-/

Something major like this would be a good reason to post a news post right away. Forget about halloween costumes, userheads and all the other fluff. Give the users the info they need right now.
Plus a tip about what they can do to protect themselves.

The way this is "referenced" I wouldn't have had a clue had I not read the comments. Plus it is too late now to do anything. I have now idea who might have seen which posts of mine and there is nothing I can do about it.

Had I known about it sooner I could have locked all posts or temporarily deleted the journal.
Yes it is that important. For a journal service with the main distinctive feature of friends groups and security a "Oops, sevice issue, don't worry it's over now" just doesn't cut it.

Yes, judging from the low comment numbers on this post you saved yourself a lot of explaining and outrage glossing over the security breach like that - but that is just because people don't even know about it.
Those who do will be very wary of what you tell them from here on out.
