So we're talking early next week then, hopefully, for these changes to go live?

No, at this point, I think it's planned for the week after next.

Wow, ok. I fear that's still going to leave a lot of people unhappy. Thanks for the info.

So you're rolling back last week's changes until then, right...?

Oh.

This REALLY needs to be said explicitly in the post itself.

Very this.

Is there any reason it can't be done sooner? I'm sure at this point users would be fine if you need to take down the site for a few hours to implement the changes sooner.

As far as I and others are concerned, this is a major privacy breach and should be treated as such.

I don't think they care :/

I KNOW they don't care. All this "we listened" crap is just that. They may have read the comments, but they aren't really addressing the underlying issues.

yeah, like trying to use band aid to cover a gun shot wound instead of the massive surgery it needs.

Like somebody else pointed out, they could have given us some feedback from the beginning. A simple we're working on it or something would have let us know they at least were reading some comments and taking the polls into consideration. I do that with people I don't want to hear anything from either, ignore them until I have no choice :/

I don't think taking the site down for a few hours will help. They need to actually code the changes.

Yup, and there's likely data in the database as well that they have to decide what to do with.

I don't think it's that simple. The change was in the midst of several other changes, not all of which are getting modified, and it would take more time away from getting the full fix in.

That's about where my thinking was. (I'm sorry I'm not being terribly explanatory, I just woke up from a nap and before that my family was visiting...) It would be nice if they could bring it down between now and when the fix goes live, but I really don't think it's going to happen.
