You're... say, a student-teacher in a local middle school. Your friends, family, and colleagues are linked to you on facebook. Some of the students at the school have also found you there. And a few of your RL friends also have LJ accounts and have you friended here.
Nobody in your RL knows you're gay. But in the context of your LJ life, you've finally managed to open up and come out to a very small and select handful of your LJ friends -- one of whom is also on Facebook. This friend enthusiastically embraced the Facebook crossposting and has their settings defaulting to reposting EVERY comment they make on Facebook as well.
And so, completely out of context, a whole bunch of your mutual Facebook friends see them say to you, "Honestly, , I always knew you were batting for that team. I'm glad you've finally found the courage to come out." WITH A LINK BACK TO YOUR POST. YOUR LOCKED AND FILTERED POST ( ... )
