We've got some exciting updates this week, so sit tight and we'll get started. Of course, news would not be complete without a special gift from Frank. It appears that he neglected to celebrate birthdays this month. So, in the spirit of better late than never, please rip a zippy yippee if you were born in August, and Frank'll send you a ginger ( Read more... )

All tags containing a "/" symbol are broken, resulting in an unhandled error when you try to click on them. The URL of the error page shows that they're being replaced by "&2F" for some reason, and if you manually replace the "%2F" on the error page with a "/", the tag works, it's still a huge hassle and something LJ should fix immediately.

Why would anyone use a / in a tag?

...I can't tell if you're serious or not. If you are, / is the universal symbol used to separate characters in ships, meaning that most of LJ fandom is screwed. Also fans of AC/DC, I guess, or anyone who ever had a reason to make an either/or tag.

oh well fandom people needed something to complain about right?

...Do you seriously not have any idea how much WORK this is going to make for people? Especially the maintainers of various communities? Not to mention people with extensive ficcing/reccing journals. A lot of these places have dozens or even hundreds of tags featuring / symbols. Each of those tags now has to be MANUALLY changed. That means somebody has to go through and do this for every tag on every community/journal that used the / to separate character names. That's HOURS of someone's time, if not days. It's a huge inconvenience.

It has nothing to do with fandom needing something to complain about. It just happens to be that fandom is the group affected by this more than most others, because the / is a large part of our normal syntax.

Then LJ should give you a refund or they obviously don't care about fandoms.

It's becoming increasingly obvious they don't, which is a shame. Fannish journals make up a good percentage of their paid user base.

But it seems pointless to waste actual thought replying to you. "LJ should give you a refund", are you kidding or just that stupid? o_0;

It's fixed, btw. I think it may even have been fixed before your comment, I'm not sure.

Hey, as long as it's fixed, I don't care when they did it! Makes me happy they did something right. :)

Thanks for the update! I kind of wish they'd told us they'd been working on it so I hadn't spent the time revamping my tags, but at least now I know my links won't break. I'm really glad it's fixed--thanks, LJ!

Filtered group tags get the same response of Unhandled Error. Hopefully LJ will fix this screwup.
