Just a wild guess, but maybe because (why, I have no idea) for ages and ages now there's been a thing whereby the first person to comment on a news post just writes, "oh." Personally I find it slightly less amusing/interesting than those "First!" posts that infest a lot of blogs, but quite a few people seem to find it fun - and of course you ruined it by actually commenting on the news post. That's LJ for you. *shrugs*

No, LJ regularly fails at notifs and site performance because they refuse to fix it.

Hint: Notifs will be sketchy today and tomorrow since this news post was posted. Every news post since December has slowed them, yet we still need to be told about color scheme and header changes instead of letting us actually use LJ, apparently.

But at least we'll get to hear more about Frank's adventures! That's what we're all really interested in, right?

Y halo thar! I happened to be logged in here so I figured I'd leave my comment from a paid account. XD

Yeah I'm really getting tired of just, the lack of basic common sense. I understand sending out the news posts, but when they are interfering with site performance, keep them spread out.
