Hmmm... Perhaps that's the one I've not been able to connect to at all, all day today. Looks like they've screwed up the certificate well and good, if the comments in that thread are any guide...

I agree with you. What happened to opensource and Linux support?

I don't know about everyone else, but I for one will NOT be getting a Windows Live account.

What's the point in trying to have a social networking site when you then split the friends groups into "those with Jabber" and "those with Windows Live". If they had gone with GMail then the two services would work with one another.

I wonder how much money Microsoft paid them in return?

To sign up for an account you have to accept getting marketing emails from Microsoft. I've only just managed to escape from their relentless torrent of emails and message pushing Bing, why would I want to sign up for those again.

Why didn't you expand the use of Jabber and maybe offer yourself as an OpenID server?
