When LiveJournal, Inc., was launched in December the new team made it very clear that LiveJournal was going to change. We also said that we would respect the values and legacy of LiveJournal. But, we can’t ignore the fact that as LiveJournal nears its second decade it needs to make some business decisions ( Read more... )

Okay, since you all seem unwilling or incapable of responding to the accusations and questions regarding your homophobia, stigmatization of the mentally ill, and obsessive discomfort with and misunderstanding of the fannish community as evidenced by the debacle with the 100 most popular interests list, let me give you some advice ( ... )

There's a problem with #1. If they make a statement saying "We're doing something, we're going to make a statement tomorrow", and you know this is true-- all that they will get is an onslaught of comments saying "Why are you being vague?! LiveJournal is being vague, they're trying to disadvantage us!", and so on, ad nauseam. Just saying.

And? Those who would respond in that fashion are idiots who like to be reactionary for it's own sake. Anyone who jumps on an announcement of an announcement is not worth listening to-I'm sure the staff could easily ignore the comments page, they've done so before many times.

Like I said: just saying. They're going to get bad reactions either way.

Yes, but one reaction is based on hysterical internet users, while the other will be a rebuttal to information they have a responsibility to disseminate to their customers, paying or otherwise. Our journals are the reason they can make money advertising-LJ has gone waaaay beyond trying to scrape money together to keep their servers going, hence the buyouts. So we deserve some statement, and internet trolls are no good reason for not getting one.

Saw it, and thank you. Please let us know if anything comes of it on that end.

Right now I feel like our best focus is getting the whole story out of LJ, and then getting them to donate some dolars where it's needed to show their sincerity. Opening a dialogue is of course great, but I feel like we've been burned on that a few times, but I will be thrilled if any of us have better luck this time.

in RL corporations are not big on "christian (et. al.) values" so since from a corporate point of view it is not profitable to chase off droves of paying customers and (don't know if it is really true of not but) at least the "G" in the "LGBT" community is said to have scads of disposable income, we can't see why they would do that

keep thinking that perhaps they had some sort of security breach and they don't want to admit it until it's plugged or something, but we are the computer team (for http://www.nyabn.org, http://www.bialogue.org, et. al.) so that is how we would think

but we will certainly let you know if we hear anything
