V-Gifts, All Around

As the summer (in our hemisphere) draws to a close, many of you are busy getting ready for back to school or whatever the change of season brings. HEY!

Will you spammers please stop sending all those Pepsi cans and bottles to the official LJ communities!

In the last few hours, I got 35 emails and 35 messages with PEPSI gifts for lj_ads, lj_biz and lj_design. If you are protesting the Pepsi campaign, please do so in your own journal. I don't want your spam.

I had the same problem, hope this helps.

You can turn them off in the subscription management page:

Just go un-check the one that says something like "Notify me when one of my friends receives a VGift"

I think the point of doing that is to spam the communities and get attention.

Oh, this is so sad. Here all these happy little piggybanks are sending GIFTS to the official LJ communities and they don't APPRECIATE them!

Any more than the rest of us do.

Er... obviously a protest limited to one's own journal isn't going to be as visible as one aimed at official LJ communities, so maybe you should just turn the notifications off?

And people who protest often do it where no one is listening and no one will hear them because it's more effective that way.

You know...groups like MADD and SADD and the like all do it quietly in their own living rooms.

I'll try to explain it one more time...

LJ staff does not read comments past page 3.
LJ staff does not get VGift notifications.
Innocent users do get hundreds of emails and messages.

Who's listening? LJ is not listening. The innocent users are not listening, they're just deleting emails and messages. Or worse, the users are switching functionality off that they paid for.

Buy a new radio. I'll come and broadcast a beep on your favorite stations fequency. And then I'll tell you to switch off the radio, it's the easiest solution to stop the beep. And I'll tell you you don't need the radio anyway.

Anyway, the protesters have one result: everyone is talking about Diet Pepsi Max. Great advertising!

Complain to LJ for having them and turn off your email notification for updating you when someone gets a free v-gift. Why on earth do you need to know that, anyway?
