The first season is as close to a perfect work of art on television as I've ever seen. I don't even like football, and I am a...rather pungent critic of the myth of Americana, but -- damn if the first season doesn't break me apart every. single. time.

I am laying money that you will be enthralled by -- Matt Saracen, Tim Riggins and Tyra Collette. But I mean, really, every single character on that show is fucking brilliant, and I fully expect you to grow fiercely protective of them all. :Dd (It pains me to think that Peter Berg, the genius behind this show, also directed Hancock. Just...la la la, putting the cognitive dissonance away for another day.)

*laughs* Yeah, you know my type. Riggins I'm still holding out on, Tyra I'm watching because she's Jess from SPN (except wow, how she is not!), and I have to confess I'm totally intrigued by Smash.

(The major in the pilot, with Street? Totally cracked my shit up. "D'you have Black Sabbath?" "...Ma'am?" "It'll make you mean.")

If it won a Peabody, then it's apparently on a level with TWW, and... yeah. New show, new canon, new shiny! Thank you, hulu.com.
