5) Then Joe came back to America, tired, hungry, huddled, poor, Lady Liberty looming in the harbor fog, and Joe with nothing but the war on his back, never thinking he'd do this, coming west, coming back, coming home.
4) The smell of the Austrian dirt in their diamond keys into a thousand things, and he doesn't want to touch them, he just wants that ball to land in his glove.
3) His frozen limbs remember sunlight better than he'd anticipated.
