Try the upper 9 in the vicinity of the Healing Center. You can take the bus in to work in the CBD.

use padmapper.com. one of the best rental searching thingamabobs out there and can likely catch things you're missing that could fit what you need.

I don't know if you've done this, but I often find that walking around/driving around and looking for "for rent" signs yields some gems. Many landlords, especially in high interest neighborhoods, don't list on CL or whatever.
Don't give up. I know how frustrating and often scary apartment hunting can be.
