Hey all, my boyfriend moved down here from Chicago and has been having a craving for horchata, which he describes as rice water that's kind of sweet and rather similar to chai. I took him to Juan's Flying Burrito on Magazine, but they had no idea what it was, and I am far from a fan of Mexican food so Juan's is really the only place I know ( Read more... )

Ohhh. I love that stuff. I haven't seen it anywhere but I haven't looked. You could try calling Taqueria Corona on Magazine ((504) 897-3974‎).

OH!!! THIS PLACE HAS IT FOR SURE: http://www.felipesneworleans.com/index.html

Agreed. Taqueria Corona is the place. Best Mexican in the city. Aside from Taco Trucks, that is.

Someone told me about the horchata at felipe's. Though I can't remember if it was a good or bad thing. They have two locations. One uptown, one in the quarter.

The Horchata at Felipe's is GOOD. Not Chicago good, but good none the less.

Do not, I repeat do not get the horchata at Felipe's, it's from a mix and very powdery, its horrid, at least at the French Quarter location. You can actually get some horchata which in the past couple of years has been available at Rouses only at Christmas time, but seems to still be available right now. Snatch it up! I think I've seen it at both Whole Foods locations also.

La Macarena Pupuseria at the Carrollton Riverbend (Hampson off Carrollton, near the Camelia Grill) serves horchata.

Yeah, I've eaten there a couple times.

I'm not sure of their hours. They might sometimes just close if business is slow.

They're open and they're fabulous. Tons of personality and delicious food.
