My wonderful dears!

I need to find black matte/mounting boards. I finally got an interview and have to mount a few things before I go in. If I could find some to match what I’ve already mounted on (which I believe is Crescent ultra-smooth) that would be best. Any suggestions? I’d prefer not to go to a framing place since they usually charge a TON for that kind of ( Read more... )

If I really have to go out to Slidell, I will, but I would like to find a closer in option. I've never gone that far before!

Ah, a drive over the rickety temp twin span is a test of fire!!

I know they have a good selection of colors and rather cheap prices, especially when they go on sale. (They're 50% off this week.) They have archival quality ones which aren't as large, nor as smooth as the larger boards. Especially when they go on sale. (I have one of the large black mat ones still around. I just checked it, and it's got some tooth. It's also not very thick. Why I find it easier to cut than the archival. But hey for half off of 6.99 for 32x40, that's a great price.)

According to the Crescent site, there are two suppliers of your board near here:
AMPF (New Orleans)
712 L&A Rd.
Metairie, LA 70001
504-834-8123

and

Or another idea is to call up Tulane bookstore and see if they have any. Way, way, way, back when I was there, they used to stock some high end art supplies.

Office Depot has a small selection of boards for presentations.

Yeah, they really don't have the quality that I'm looking for. Theirs all seem to be either cheap poster board or tri-fold-foam core monstrosities. What I'm looking for is actually used a lot for mounting photos or inside frames.

Know of anything like that?

Casell Gallery might sell you something and cut it. Not sure how much they'll charge.

I went to them for some rice paper a couple of months ago but I didn't notice matte board. Of course, I was so excited by the fact that as soon as I walked in the door my eye went straight to the exact color and style of paper I was looking for (and they had exactly the number of sheets I needed) that I didn't notice a whole lot else at all. So I'll definitely give them a try.
