Nice. Love the idea of reading Heinlein putting someone to sleep. lol
It might be intriguing if Lt. James was some kind of distant relation that Rose didn't know she had. But I like the leap of logic Adam (just typed Adama - lol) took here, too. Long-term therapy can definitely create coping skills we don't know we have, and it's interesting the way he sees the similarities between Rose's and James' demeanors.
It's funny you say that about the possible distant relation. I kind of had that thought, as I was working. I grew attached to Lt. James although he's a minor character. (For a long time, I had it in my head that Adam would figure it out by watching someone with PTSD get treatment, but I had no idea Adam and Lt. James would have such a connection.) It would be neat if he and Adam met again down the road.
I have all these questions about Lt. James' life and where he ends up. I wouldn't be surprised if he showed up again.
Oh, I'm so happy to see this detailed look at how Adam came to the conclusions he did. And with The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, no less! (I love that title...it reminds me both of the wonderful Carson McCullers novel The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, and the quote by Mr. Justice Story, "The law is a jealous mistress and requires a long and constant courtship...") I grinned when Adam described Rose as fiance. But now I need to know (1) how, exactly, they make up after they go to that ball game! and (2) all about the proposal that eventually happens.
The psychological aspect of this story is really interesting, and I agree with lanalucy that James is an intriguing character who may have a bigger part to play ,perhaps...
Lt. James is great, isn't he? I really hadn't thought about him at all until yesterday, but he's awesome, and I think his story should be told too. *nods*
Heinlein's become an endless source of inspiration, titles, etc. for this project. I love that my self-inserted book for Rose led to so much. :D
Yes, the making up still needs to happen. I believe I left off with them on his couch deciding they still loved each other. There's a lot of possibilities beyond that...
The proposal and the wedding planning and all the loose ends should be forthcoming soonish. I have some loose ideas from when I wrote the actual wedding.

I'll have to read MIAHM in order to transfer some of that wisdom to Adam. I'll grab it off my shelf later. :)
Thanks for reading. :D
