First, PersonalExtraWritingMonth. I seem to have torn through it. My current word count, after a little more than a week into it, is... 32,000 words. That's more than half way. At this rate, I might finish before this weekend. There are many reasons for my speed. ( Read more... )

I'm not sure six ever gets out of his regeneration crisis, to be honest.

I have a fondness for Davison's Doctor. No, he's not as eccentric or distinctive, but that's part of what made him unique - his personality quirks are that he's laid back, quiet and sensitive, youthful and somewhat vulnerable and more grounded in real life - a deliberate decision to tone back the silliness, apparently. Considering how ridiculous I found Pertwee, it's a decision I can get behind. I rather liked that they didn't go all out to make him wacky, although it was rather a contrast to Baker's otherworldliness, but that was rather the point, I thought.

I'm also a big fan of Mawdryn Undead. A great story.

Some people find Davison bland, but I think he's a pleasant oasis of normalcy between Four and Six - makes me wonder if there's a kind of yo-yo effect on personality with each regeneration. He's charmingly repressed! Tegan is an awesome, no-nonsense character. I think she'd get on well with Donna.

Black Orchid is one of my favourite stories - lovely atmosphere, classic gothic story line, Tegan does the Charleston. We definitely need a few new Who stories that don't need science fiction resolutions.

I have great fondness for Six, too. I don't think they really got the hang of his character until the audios, though. They're definitely worth checking out if you like what you see on TV but wish there was more character development.
