Wow, the US version of Life on Mars looks like crap. They didn't even bother to try to come up with a different pilot it seems. The first episode has the exact same plot elements as the UK Life on Mars. Heck, they even have the same shots, like after Sam gets hit by the car. The actor is lying in the same position as John Simm did. I'm not sure this promo does a very good job of advertising the show. It can't decide whether the show is a cop drama or a comedy. But I agree, you do not recast Colm Meany. I find it funny that the lead and Colm are both from the UK but they both have to put on American accents. If you're going to hire UK actors, you might as well set the show in the UK. ;-) I hope they don't recast the supporting cast. The actress playing Annie is Canadian I think. And was ABC not able to buy the rights to the song "Life on Mars"? You'd think they would have it in the promo. Sigh.

I'm hopeful the second half of BSG will suck less. Ron Moore and the writers had all that time during the strike to think things over.

So you write science fiction? What kind? I also write science fiction, usually near future science fiction.

Mostly short stories, and yeah, mostly nearish future too, although now and then I'll do something that goes a bit farther.
