On my way back from school, I walked by a guy who was selling copies of dvds on the sidewalk. In China, it's all you find. It's actually easier to buy pirated dvds than real dvds. Anyway, for 10RMB (about 1€/$), you get a dvd, not always perfect but more than enough for some movies. The probability of getting a good copy depends on the geographic location of the seller. Sidewalk = good chance your copy will be flawed. Small shops = better copies, more languages or subtitles choices, etc. It's always very cheap though. To illustrate my point, I'm just going to tell you that I found a box set of Stargate SG-1 season one to seven for 50€/$ in a shop where quality is guaranteed and I had to restrain myself HARD. In France for 50€, you don't even get season one. So, yeah, cheap. Anyway, the guy on the sidewalk was all over the place because I'm European and in his head, it means big bucks, so he was trying to sell me every single one of his babies when I saw this:

dvd

I almost fainted on the spot. This dvd is more than flawed but is a jewel I intend to keep because:
1. David "God" Hewlett is on the cover.
2. The cover is complete crack. The names of the actors don't fit the picture. I'm pretty certain the picture is made of pictures from different movies. I'm not sure the body is actually DH's. The text on the back cover is not about the same movie, neither are the credits (Who Framed Roger Rabbit). The movie on the dvd is neither Who Framed Roger Rabbit, or the movie indicated on the cover, nor does it have DH in it. Pure crack. But for one euro, I don't care, and then I got DH in a suit with a gun.

Needless to say I squeed profusely all the way home even though I could tell the copy was a bad one. It sadly led to this:

tv: stargate atlantis, rl: china, lj: public, fan: art, david hewlett
