[... not that Sora is entirely aware of a way to lock memories up somewhere safe, but if it comes to the point that he can't keep them in his heart where they belong, like he's concluded after a hazy dream last

[ Guess who made it back into town a few hours ago?

Skarmory's landing is surprisingly graceful, considering Leon is on her back. With a rider, she looks like a proper metal chocobo. True to his style, Leon's made her a harness to wear, which he unstraps before dismounting. Skarmory immediately races down the beach to see Sora, her trainer following more sedately behind. ]

[ Skarmory caws proudly--but you seriously should have seen the fail with Kay, Sora, you wouldn't be half so confident. Anyways!

Skarmory climbs and climbs, taking up speed as the altitude brings stronger wind. You know what this calls for, Sora?

Loops. Also cloud-touching. Because this is Disney. ]

[you have pretty much made his month, momma bird, if his almost uncontrollable laughter is any indication, when they hit those first few loops. his memory woes are all but forgotten, ironically, as he marvels at how easily his hands sweep through the fluffiest of clouds. even when you know what clouds are made of, it's hard to imagine not being able to take a fistful of one like cotton candy.]

[ Skarmory is glad he's enjoying himself! Carrying Boss around makes her proud, but carrying Sora is so much easier! Plus he doesn't mind when she takes him for a joyride!

You ready for another dive, kid? Last one, so they gotta make it count! ]

[... does Boss freak out a little bit if you try to take him for a joyride, Skarmory? Sora's picking up on her body language, as it were-- or maybe he can just sense that it's time for one more divebomb-- in any case, he's leaning forward, arms wrapped gently around Skarmory to brace himself. Sora's ready!]

[ Well, he does start shouting. And then when they're on the ground he says things in his Super Stern Boss Voice, which Skarmory doesn't like. :C

I hope you like the ground, Sora, because all of a sudden it's coming up fast. ]

[Sora's not a fan of that voice either, especially when he's on the receiving end of a scolding. :( even though he knows he's in perfectly good... wings... instincts guide him to squinch his eyes shut and brace himself as they careen toward the ground.]

[he might scream a little, too.]

[ As long as it is a scream of THRILL AND EXCITEMENT Skarmory is happy!

They rocket down the beach and shoot right past Leon, who has to jump out of the way. Skarmory deploys her wings to halt them, landing softly in the sand.

How was that? ]

[PERHAPS IT WAS. once Air-Skarmory has come to a complete stop, Sora rolls right off, collapsing onto the ground and curling up into a ball.]

[... then he cracks up laughing again.]

That was awesome!

[ Leon walks over, gear in hand--guess what he was doing while you two were off joyriding? That's right, catching up on messages.

He leans over Sora's splayed form in the sand, smiling lightly. ]

You looked like you were having fun.

Yeah! Man, I can't wait until Metal Chocobo can fly like that--

[he sits up, running his hands through his windblown hair. er, well...]

... Maybe I ought to hold off on teaching her Fly for a little bit. At least 'til she stops trying to carry me around everywhere.

[ Leon laughs a bit, puts away the 'gear, and offers Sora a hand up. ]

It's probably for the best. She might try to Fly with you in her beak.

[back on his feet again! with a sheepish smile and everything, as he bats the sand off of his person.]

Well... I'm just gonna work on breaking that habit for now. So did you have a nice flight here, Leon?

[ He shakes his head. ] We took the ferry. I'd never ask Skarmory to fly for four days straight, and it was faster by boat, in any case.

[ He puts a hand on her beak, quietly affectionate. ] She wanted to fly as soon as we got here, though. [ Like a dog with its leash, she followed him around carrying her harness. ]

She's really, really good at it. I bet she'll be able to make those longer flights one day.

[Sora's reaching over to give Skarmory a thankful pat.]

[ A nod. ] I know she can do it--just not with me on board.

[ He looks back at Sora, eyes narrowing a bit, contemplative. Skarmory, meanwhile, chirrs happily. ]
