Well, we're down to staging. At some point we're going to meet with the prep person to determine how best to Show our house (what junk to hide or paint or toss). And that's it. Papers are signed. Our house hits the market on 01/14/10. Papers are signed. Our house gets built by... May-ish

I hope your current house sells before the new one is built and you have to decide to close or not. We got royally screwed by moving into a new house when the old one wasn't sold. I can't say what I'd do if I had to do it again either. I sure like my new house, but I don't like the fact that we had to rent and then short sell our house (we were lucky it wasn't foreclosed on).

However, I will say that our old house was on the smallish side in an area where new houses were being built and our house was 25 years old. It was definitely a starter house.
