"Hey, everyone," Marie said, coming in the door. She'd let Chel go her own way after they'd finished with their set of houses, and even snagged a book from the local library. Sure, it was a romance, and she really wasn't a big fan, but it was reading. She just hoped she wouldn't start reading it and get bogged down thinking about Syusuke and their non-relationship. "Everything going well?" Then she caught Ami's look. "Or not?"
"Oh no, everything's quite fine," Ami hurried to assure Marie that her frown and discomfiture had nothing to do with the household or Haven. "I've only just realized that I've left the poor cows out at the farm badly in need of milking. I was just on my way there."
(As soon as I can convince my feet to move in that direction,) Ami thought sourly.
"Oops," Marie said gently, still a bit preoccupied about the previous night's disaster with Syusuke. "You want someone to go with?"
Then she blinked. "And we have yet another new person!" she exclaimed, finally registering the fact. "Hi. We are going to have to start finding a bunch of new homes, eh Ami-san?"
Inwardly she winced when she realized what she'd said. Nothing like having a Japanese teenager on the brain, she thought grimly.
