Too bright, too bright. That was the thought that filtered into Ami's brain as she rose slowly toward waking consciousness. She instinctively rolled away from the brightness that backlit the insides of her eyelids a warm red. Confusion swirled as her movement and momentum was impeded. Slowly blinking her eyes open, the corners of Ami's mouth curled up into a slow appreciative smile. Just as her mind placed the brightness as the sunlight that came with morning, the memories of last night fell into place.
Victor's arm was a warm, comforting weight around her waist. He shifted, stirring a bit with her movement, but not waking completely. Ami stretched out a hand and ran her fingers through his hair, so soft and fine and completely mussed. Fingertips moved from his hair to his face, dancing over the stubble on his cheeks, tracing his lips.
In the clear light of day, there was no regret. There was no wariness and no worry about what would happen when he awoke. In fact, the only thing there happened to be were plenty of memories that would keep her flushed and randy all day long if she dwelled on them for too long.
She shuffled closer, sliding one leg up his and over his hip. Victor's arm around her tightened, and a smile tugged up the corners of his mouth. In the back of her mind Ami knew she needed to climb out of bed, get dressed and head to the farm -- (Let's not forget dealing with the fact that the entire house probably knows exactly what Victor and I were up to last night. All night.) -- but staying in bed with him was so tempting.
(And the cows are not going to milk themselves.)
With a groan and a sigh, Ami wriggled out from beneath her lover's arm - (And how I do like the sound of that) - and slipped out of bed. Sensing that Victor was at least partly awake and aware of her actions, she explained, "I have to get to the farm. I'd much rather have a lie in with you, but there are two cows that will be highly put out with me if I don't tend them."
Ami walked across the room and entered the walk-in closet. A few minutes later, she emerged, dressed for the morning's chores. She smiled fondly at the sight of Victor stretched out, still snoozing lightly in the king size bed. Her eyes raked appreciatively over the parts of his body that weren't hidden by the tangled sheets, and then before she could get further distracted, she called out, "I'm heading downstairs now."
She didn't know whether he was awake enough to hear her or not.
Hitting the hallway, she smelled coffee which told her that someone awoke before she did. There was a significant lightness to her step as she descended the stairs, and her body eagerly craved the coffee that she smelled brewing. She entered the kitchen, trying hard not to grin from ear-to-ear, and called out a greeting, "Good morning!"
