Audrey woke with a terrible crick in her neck. Bobby was gone, probably upstairs to a bed where he could stretch out. Audrey figured she ought to do that as well, maybe it would help her neck. A metallic clang came from one other the other rooms making her jump. She picked up her pistol from where she'd left it on the side table and went in the direction the sound had come from. Another banging noise came from what she was pretty sure was the kitchen. She got up close to the swinging door, pushed it slightly open and peered inside. It was Bobby, standing with his back to her in front of the stove. The smell of chicken soup met her nose as she pushed the door the rest of the way open.
Goren turned with a start but quickly settled down when he saw who it was. "Oh, man, Audrey- you're gonna kill me, sneaking up like that. Jeez..." He shook his head and went back to his stirring.
"Did I wake you up?" he asked, not bothering to turn around.
Audrey walked up and looked over Bobby's shoulder as he worked. "Only a little. You could make it up to me," she said, looking longingly at the soup. "I am eating for two, you know."
He eyed her and then shrugged. "I was making enough for all of us. I know Chel wants something hot to eat at some point. Get a bowl and I'll fill ya up. I have no idea where the bowls are... so you're on your own for that."
Audrey watched Chel walk out and turned to Bobby. "I should probably turn in, too, but I'm just a little wired. Don't think I could sleep again yet." The nap earlier, along with the fact that she really had spent most of the day lying down made it so that she wasn't tired just yet.
"Are you too tired to take stock of what we want to look for in town? We could maybe get up a list of essentials." Audrey didn't figure on Bobby actually wanting to stay up and do that, but she didn't wan to sit up alone, so she tried.

"And he cooks, too," she said with a smile.
