Oh, lovely. I love hearing Hatter's backstory. On one hand I really wish they'd gotten into it in the miniseries, but on the other hand, since they left it open, people can make up all kinds of history for him. I love what you've got for him here. His dad, his mum, the tea. Just lovely. Good work, truly =]
Why thank you! I tried to figure out how Hatter knew his way around the Happy Heart, and where he got the superpunch. I like the idea that he was a guinea pig, but escaped.
This was a really genius look at what could have lead to certain characters becoming what they are, and Lola is a really thought out and well created character.
Welcome to my hell, friend. I've the Copacabana in my head all darn weekend. And then I've got Rachel from Friends singing it. Glad you liked it. I wrote it in middle of the night after work so I'm glad it came out coherent.
Ooh, this was lovely. Great background for him, love his mother to pieces.
She knew that for a 6-year-old, Hatter was all too aware of how much he cost his mother. Och..
Lying to that child was like lying to God, he always knew and he never forgot, but he never hated you for it, which was so much worse. Just want to grab him up and hug him.
If she had been suspicious of how the man who’d interviewed her had looked at her wild haired son in his pageboy cap, she had told herself that nothing at the Casino could be more dangerous than on the streets. Eeee.. menace..
“Not nothing, Hatter! What did you do?” Nice reflection on the earlier scene!
Now she sees her son, who had been so small, so sweet, so brave only six months before, but who had suddenly started picking on other children, hiding in his room, not wearing hats... Awww...
He shook his head, clearing cobwebs. “I miss my hats.” ::sigh:: Poor thing... This was a lovely detail.
Thank you! It started out being a bit of a joke, but I love Lola and the story grew. She was just a mom trying to do right by her kid and ultimately Hatter is just like her; he's a doer, not so much a schemer. He sees Alice and just knows he's gotta follow her where ever she's going.
Oh god I can't even imagine Hatter at 2. He'd be like hell in a onesy!
Speaking of offspring: How long do we have to wait before people start writing Alice/Hatter baby fic do you think? I think Hatter would be a great House Husband, with the kid in one of those front pouch thingies, buying baby hats.
