Kingdom Hearts 2 has come out at last. This news is causing many RPG fans to bounce of the walls in happiness. I won't speak of the new features in store for you, so if you would like to know, just click on the Kingdom Hearts 2 link. I'll be honest; I never had the chance of finishing the first Kingdom Hearts, believe it or not. The reason is

I'll never class Kingdom Hearts as an RPG. Sure, it has RPG elements, but the whole game is designed in a way that RPG's hardly ever are. It's more of a platformer to me, with an implemented battle system.
I'm not a massive fan of KH but when I play it I don't try to compare it to FF at all, I just play it for the fun. Try playing it without thinking about FF, it's just a bad connection to make in my opinion.
Then again, we'll see just how much FFXII has departed from the normal fomula (though if you think about it no FF is the same, they all have their own unique battle systems).

Oh and I tried hooking up our rules page for our community. I got half of the job done, but I can't get it to work. You'll see what I mean when you try and click on the "this page" link in the community info page. I can send you a word document via msn of the rules I came up with if you want.

Not to mention, the storyline was seriously lacking the kind of development I expect from an RPG. Personally, the action RPG genre doesn't particularly impress me; it's gotta either have slick action only or some in-depth RPG elements. I can't take this blend of both that doesn't really retain the best parts of either.
...Anyway, yeah, my rant on Kingdom Hearts. I also never finished it out of sheer boredom XP. Kinda regret purchasing it, actually...one of the few games I can say that of.

Doesn't look like you're going to like FFXII then :-)

'Battles are carried out in much the same way as Final Fantasy XI. Battles are initiated in the field screen by engaging visible wandering enemies. There is no transition to a separate battle screen. Party members can move around freely during battle. The battle menu can be accessed at any time, but after commanding a character to perform an action, there is a wait time before the action is actually performed.'
It apparently works pretty well though.

That said, I'm thinking KH2 would be a great investment. I doubt those of us who haven't completed the fist Kingdom Hearts will understand much of the story. And as you may know, the storyline of the Kingdom hearts universe is already confusing as it is. Still, I recomend getting KH2; but maybe you should finish the first game beforehand.
Anyway, that's just my opinion on the matter.

I'll take your advice and buy the game. But before I actually play it, I'm going to finish the first Kingdom Hearts.
