I think his mental age is quite a bit younger than his chronological age. Sure, he's got lots of experience that the other characters can draw on, but he's still quite young, almost naive in a few ways. A big example would just be his social interaction.

I have come to agree with some of the other comments about emotional age being another factor. I supose it's a matter of weighing up the two - emotional and mental - and deciding which has the most effect.

I would safely assume your social interaction would be stunted as well if you had gone and locked yourself in a casket for twenty-five years instead of drinking all those 40's.

I doubt Vincent is the sort of character who would drink - mope and wallow in misrey ala Cloud? Very much so, but if he stayed awake he'd probably do that on the quiet while putting up a front of remote professionalism to everyone else.
