Limit Breaks

Apr 23, 2006 06:08

Everyone who knows any of the Final Fantasy games know limit breaks. I am curious of people's opinions of the various limit breaks.

My own opinions are restricted to FFVII and FFVIII, simply because those are the games I have played so, if I may, here is an outline of ( my opinions )

rinoa, final fantasy 7, aeris, squall, ff7, magic, game play, limit breaks, ff8, final fantasy viii, debate, final fantasy 8, cloud, final fantasy vii, guns, opnions

I'm going to have to agree, VII's limits don't seem as nifty as the VIII ones to me too ( ... )

Degenerator helps with leveling? I must try it out a bit then.

I do feel there's a bit of similarity between Omnislash and Lionheart, but only in the sense that they are both flurry-of-sword-strikes sort of moves. I would have to have video clips of both moves to actually compare them but on a whole, they have a similar level of coolness.

Yep, I think that might be why I like them both.

Degenerator helps with levelling in a sense. ^^ Anyone familiar with VIII knows that the best places to level up are the Island Closest to Heaven, and the Island Closest to Hell. Those monsters are tricky though. I just junction Pandemona to Quistis, give her the Initiative ability, and keep her in critical. That way whenever something attacks, she can use Degenerator right away. Instant win.

Easy way to get everyone to level 100. ^.~

(By the way, nice icon. ^^)

Ahh, reminds me of one of my more common cheats and it's liberal use while hunting the Tonberry King. I tend to edit in Selphie's unique limit break spells so an easy way to get through the tonberry quota is to pull The End on them.

This icon... I only just decided to give a few of my unused icons the shove and though I haven't played KH I have enough fondness for it to be willing to wear KH icons. Plus Cloud and Leon are damn cool.

I would really like to see Demon Slice - maybe I'll have to make room in my spell inventories for weaker spells so I can avoid taking him out too quickly in G-Garden.

Yeah it is worth the wait. When he starts saying "Ready to die Squall? Kneel before me," then he will do the move. It's pretty powerful, but it should not be a threat for your team.

Hvae you seen Seifer's Bloodfeast in disc 3? That move is pretty cool, as well. :)

As a whole I liked VII better than VIII, but now that you mention it...I think I do agree with you about the limit breaks ( ... )

I loved Final Fantasy x's overdrives, well at leats most of them. Tidus' overdrives were kind of lame at first; they were a bit to basic to me. Then again, I was comparing them to FF8's limit breaks, but I love his final overdrive, Blitz Ace. Awesome attack, indeed. Auron was pretty cool as well. I do agree that it was pretty clever of how they made the players archive different overdrives in various ways that made the game more interesting.

As for Yuna, after I master her magic, I tried to work on her attack a bit, which was kind of pointless, lol. I made Yuna go through Auron's, Wakka's and Tidus' section of the sphere grid to increase her attack power. Even after that, her power was still to low. To rap up what I am saying, I love how Final Fantasy X gave you a much easier way of customizing your characters. I think I know what my next entry is on. :D

My Yuna was absolutely *insane*...I never tried to built her up for strength, but after I finished hers, I brought her immediately down Lulu's, so her magic was out of control...I remember one of my friends was playing my game once and was complaining about how weak one of my physical attack characters was, and I told him to have Yuna cast Holy and he was really shocked at how much damage she did :)

Yeah the customization factor in X was a lot of fun--though sometimes it kind of reminded me of Kingdom Hearts, in that I would spend hours running around the entire world looking for that *one* item :)

I would have to agree that FFVIII's Limit Breaks are niftier than in FFVII. I also like how you don't have to fill up a gauge to use them, and how they randomly pop up when your characters' HP is low sort of adds to the urgency and suspense of a battle.

My favorite limit breaks to watch were actually Seifer's, because he's just so God-damn cool. I also love Quistis' (and likewise, Kimahri's) limit breaks because blue magic just makes me happy allover. I love turning around and using 'Bad Break' on a Marlboro, instead of just the other way around.

I also have a soft spot for FFIX's Trance system, because it lets you use special abilities for a certain period of time, rather than just one big attack.

My favorite has to be that of Zell. Most of his moves are the same as Tifa's, but his limit break makes you actually get off your ass (not literally) and pay attention long enough to put in those button combos. It adds a splash of Tekken and some over-all variety to the otherwise repetitive FFVIII battles.

I was thinking about the same thing, actually. Which is better, allowing the gouge to fill up or when your life is low. I'm with when you mention that FF8's way of the limit break is better, because it makes the players look all injured, and release their full potential. Seifer's limit breaks are the best, I'm with you on that one. Welcome back, by the way. :)
