Various thoughts on solicitations and such.

The Batgirl solicitation is missing for June. I don't know what this means. I hope it means, if they were planning to make Babs Batgirl, they thought better and decided to yank the title back and come up with a new plan (perhaps all because of my letter, while I'm dreaming. Mwahahaha!) Or that they're at least adding a Cass backup (a Cass and Steph ( Read more... )

Agreed so much about the Gotham Sirens thing. While I love reading things with my favorite Gotham villainesses involved, the cover makes me want nothing to do with it.

Yeah, looking at the Sirens cover, what tips it over the scales for me is that all three of them appear to be wearing heels. *headdesk*

Harley: Because nothing says energetic clown-girl like high heels!
Catwoman: Because nothing says thief in the night like high heels!
Poison Ivy: Because nothing says getting back to nature like high heels!

High heels for everyone!

I KNOW! And while Selina and Ivy have been stuck with them by stupid artists occasionally, I think this is the first time that they pulled that crap with HARLEY.

Actually, I was more bothered by Catwoman wearing high-heels, as I'm beginning to get the impression that a lot of people view Harley as someone who exists almost entirely for the purpose of cheesecake. Whereas, from what I can tell, the past few years in DC comics have shown Selina wearing practical shoes/boots along with her practical Catwoman costume. Also, Ivy. WHY ON EARTH WOULD IVY CHOOSE TO WEAR HIGH HEELS RAAAAAWWWRR! *cough*

Can I just say Manhunter is my favorite comic book series of all time? Heartily recommend it. Simone, Rucka, and Whedon are all fans.

And you think Winick/Benes is a failure? Did you know Chuck Austen and Greg Land were paired up once?

And btw, someone on GaiaOnline said that your SSS posts made him a fan of Steph, and that he'd totally buy a Steph/Cass backup.

That's so cool! I like it when I convert people.

And yeah, I really do want to get Manhunter. Mostly because friends like you like it, and because Rucka and Simone do.

Judd Winick and Ed Benes on one book sounds like the failiest fail that ever failed

Worse even than Winick and Churchill on Titans? *shudders*

How about Greg Land and Judd Winick?

I agree completely on Gotham Sirens. I'll usually buy anything Paul Dini writes but the covers.... ick. Hopefully the interior art will be better.

Okay, Winick and Land and Churchill are an equal amount of fail, I concede.

Well... on reflection, I'm not so sure now.

A Winick/Land pairing would probably be the worst of both worlds, given that while I find Churchill's artwork to be awful I believe he at least free-draws a lot of it.

Land doesn't have that much talent. His porn-tracing in lieu of photo reference is well-known at this point. So Churchill JUST edges out Land by virtue of originality if nothing else.

They're all pretty wretched, though. I just had to comment because Titans... dear merciful Poseidon, Titans...

Yeah, I love the characters and Dini, which is why it's such a shame.

And I put up those links! :)
