10 // Bonfire Night

Personally, I don't trust this plague of anonymity that seems to be spreading through the City. I'm sure there are many people using it to go absolutely crazy but really? Something's going to go wrong. I mean, this is the Fifth of November, a holiday based entirely around one man's failure. The curse on the day is hardly going to end in sunshine ( Read more... )

regular entry, unaffected by curse

Did you really make one? Splendid.

The basic shape of one, anyway. I'm hardly a dollmaker. Someone else on the Network who I assume is Cain has suggested we make one for each deity. I really hope that their suggestion comes to fruition.

I'm sure it will do.

I suggested that, actually. I think it would be an excellent idea, myself. We so often submit to their will and I'd like a little show of rebellion. I'll see if I can't make one myself.

Fantastic. I'll see you there. Well, given definition of "see", obviously.

Plague of anonymity? So that's what this is.

What'd you make him out of?

Apparently.

Sticks. Paper. Straw. A labcoat I managed to find. Flammable things.

It's only going to go wrong if people get carried away in their freedom from identity.

I...thank you.

Ooh, we're burning things?

It's what makes this holiday so fun.
More specifically, we're burning effigies of deities. Does that appeal to you?

Very much ♥

I felt it might.
We only have one doll at the moment, though. If you bring any old clothing or other flammable material, we might be able to put together the other four. Just a thought.

Somebody failed?

Yes, in the universe I'm from, on Earth, there was a group who tried to overthrow the government by exploding one of the major buildings. Before they could, they were discovered and one of the men, Guy Fawkes, became the figurehead of the event and the basis of Bonfire Night. You were originally burning an effigy of him as some sort of...representation of loyalty to the monarchy but now it's pretty much just an excuse to build a big fire.

Oh. So somebody tried to explode something and now everybody gets to make fires?

That's the idea.
