CARNIVAAAAL with bonus mod description fail

The moogles swarm and bustle around the town, staffing all the games. One balances precariously on a wooden board with a maze and a single metal ball in it while a second twirls around stacked bottles. A third wobbles around holding a hammer too big for itself next to a mallet-whacking booth while the fourth reads while leaning against a grabby Read more... )

Kuja was out enjoying the day, his first opportunity since patching Hojo up and keeping him stable. Whatever the man had permeated himself with, it was proving to be very - stubborn. No matter, Kuja liked the challenge: it made his victories all the sweeter.

Speaking of whom, here was the accompanying lady. He might as well say hello.

"Hello Lucrecia. Fine day, isn't it?

Perhaps Hojo's comatose state was still on her mind; at the sight of Lucrecia, he was certainly on Kuja's. But since she didn't bring up the subject, why, neither would he.

Kuja looked at the booths in question. Most of them were tests of strength and skill. Nothing terribly difficult, not for him.

"I don't see why I couldn't be, with some effort. You've seen the delicacy of my touch for yourself, after all."

( OOC: Don't mind if I do. :D )

Anna cautiously treadled the carnival's grounds, a wary look upon her face. Everything was overly suspicious to her, from the huge rides (which she had finally convinced herself weren't some sort of metal monsters), to the pink spindle-spun sugary candy on a stick. Mysidia and Damcyan didn't have anything of the sort, and, while interesting, could also easily be taken down with one of her favorite fire spells (or so she would like to think).

Her dark blue eyes gazed in wonder across what seemed to be a huge waterwheel carrying passengers about, when she noticed a man heading towards a stand offering a game of chance.

This ought to be interesting, she thought, trailing closely behind. Maybe she'd have a go after him. Knocking down some bottles with a ball should be something she could do easily.

Anna followed behind, intent on watching. All she was looking for was entertainment, really. She had played similar games in her homeland before, though the atmosphere was certainly different.

As she watched both moogle and Firion, she became lost in her own memories, specifically ones of her and her father. Tellah had played games before in Anna's youth, though no prizes were won. Just father and daughter being together made Anna long for her homeworld even more.

"Oh!" Drat, she was spotted. Way to blow your cover, Anna. "Uhm, no, really. You can play; I was just going to watch."

Stammer-stammer. At least she was telling the truth...

OFF TO THE SIDE--PS, picture Vexen with an iPad, only probably dark blue frozen_pride September 22 2010, 20:02:59 UTC
Sitting at the café much the same as he had been the last time he showed up in town is Vexen, dressed in rather casual clothing (for him, at least). He looks almost half-bored, his eyes locked on the screen of a flat, hand-held computer-like thing. Should anyone get close enough to take a good look at this strange device, they should expect to see numerous fluctuating graphs that he alternates between with a casual flick across the screen.

After the first few times, Ansem's decided that the variety of hearts to be found at the carnival can wait. He can just as easily track them down later, should he wish. For now, he's taking to see what else there is around the city. It's curiosity, of a sort, and when he pops into the café only to spot Vexen sitting there, he can't help but drift on over.

Surely there's something of interest to be found in what he's up to.

But it's a good mental image? frozen_pride October 7 2010, 05:19:37 UTC
Vexen looks up from the hand-held monitor and allows a look of pleasant surprise to grace his features. Of all the people in this city, there were few he could consider tolerable on some level. Even fewer were those that were capable of holding their own in a science-related conversation with him, but Dr. Lucrecia Crescent was one of those few.

"Ah, Dr. Crescent. A pleasure to see you again." He knows that if he were capable of it, he would be amused at how obvious her curiosity over the data being streamed into his monitor.

"I can assume you are taking a small break from the festivities?"

Kuja might have become accustomed to the finer things in life, but he wasn't about to turn his nose up if a little less sophisticated diversion arose. The bright colors that sprang up around the town gave a festive charm about the place, a welcome sight after the pastels and grays of snow.

At the moment he was looking at a crane game, idly wondering which prize to go for first.

For the third time, Zidane walked into the carnival. He couldn't keep away from it; it was a lot of fun to him. But today, he was alone. For once.

When he saw his brother, however, he raised an eyebrow. "Are you really that bored?" He asked, coming closer to Kuja. He knew this may not even end very well, but he didn't really care at the moment.

And there went his good mood. Perhaps he could get it back by recalling Zidane electrocuted by his magic. At least that image would stay with him forever, just in case he needed a little pick me up.

In the meantime, however, Kuja couldn't just ignore Zidane's presence. But he didn't have give any respect; Kuja's gaze remained fixed on the crane.

"I can hardly cozy up to a ruler who shuts his doors to all, can I?"

"I guess not. But still, seeing you in a place so...festive is surprising." Zidane crossed his arms, already a little tense. It's not like he could help it; the past couple of times they had run into each other hadn't ended very well.

But he walked a little closer, though his good sense was telling him not to. "You're finding that crane awfully interesting." Zidane couldn't help but find that a little amusing, actually. His brother...at a carnival. He never thought he'd see the day.

So much for normalcy...whatever that was around here. Fang wasn't quite sure what all of this was supposed to be - she'd heard some of the others call it a carnival, but that word meant little to her. She'd never seen anything like it. Maybe Cocoon had a place like this that she hadn't seen, since Gran Pulse sure didn't.

There was something that looked a bit like the railroad they'd used to ship goods, but it went much faster. That was the only thing that looked at all familiar.

Still, she took it all in with her arms crossed, wandering around a bit as she waited for Vanille - they'd agreed to check it out together. Her eyes wandered towards something that read 'Kissing Booth,' and before she could seem too confused as to what exactly that was supposed to do, she saw the poor sap manning it and let out a noise of amusement.

"Well, well." She smirked at Demyx. "Look who we've got here."

Taking a moment to let his eyes focus (he'd started to doze off, propped up by his hand and the strange balance that lazy people seem to acquire to allow them to sleep in all sorts of places), Demyx gave Fang a pathetic look as soon as he was able to tell it was her and not a figment of his imagination.

"You've come to save me, right?"

He didn't volunteer for this job, oh no. Xemnas seemed to have decided that, with Xigbar gone, Vexen busy, and Axel and Larxene's questionable (if not nonexistant) loyalty, it was Demyx who had to do... well, pretty much everything else. He'd even been assigned Kefka-sitting duties. And as much fun as heckling people into kissing each other could be, Demyx really just wanted to eat some food and go take a nap, and not necessarily in that order.

"Save you? From what, your beauty nap?"

Fang leaned one arm on the booth, the other hand on her hip as she looked around. She couldn't really blame Demyx for looking bored - everyone seemed to be turning a blind eye to this kissing booth, whatever it was. Though she had a pretty good idea.

"Who put you up to this? That boss of yours?"
