in which there is a creeper contest, some gore and Hojo rescue by a fairy godmage

Sep 08, 2010 21:54

Who: Kefka, Hojo and Lucrecia
Where: near the ocean
When: just after Hojo's arrival
What: A god with a plan and a scientist in love try to save a monster. Hilarity ensues.
Warnings: Purple prose, mild gore, disturbing themes

Kefka has closed his journal by now, wings flapping as he navigates the forest on his way to the ocean. Hojo is here, is dying, is monstrous, is going to have no choice but to accept Kefka's help and then he'll have another scientist lapping from his fingers, victim, pretty little ditty about a dying man. Monster. Whatever. Men are monsters and the body doesn't matter, Kefka thinks, and Hojo is a monstrous man and a monster and Kefka does like monsters.

And soon he finds him. Kefka bounces off a branch and lands on his hands and knees, folding his wings back, away, the god's wings shoved back into his shoulder blades and Kefka hisses at the pain of it before it fades. He's flecked with sweat from keeping his wings out for so long, but he's found him.

Good.

Hojo is gorgeous. He glows with magic, pulses of pure white crawling under his skin and dripping from his wounds, the smell of raw, processed magic like ozone and sucrose and--hasn't smelled that since the lab, by the Emperor--and his skin tingles. And he smells blood, too, can see it under the magic that smears the man, that gasp could either be a mangled larynx or a punctured lung but if the lung was punctured, Hojo would be dead. Should be. Kefka remembers, once, finding a soldier infused with cure magic, his belly blown open by shrapnel, the magic trying to crawl skin back over the falling viscera while the man screamed his throat raw.

He'd killed him. Seemed the kind thing to do, then, when he could be kind for kindness.

But Hojo's got two spines, one trying to crawl out of his back, the other bare and shaking, Hojo shaking, bleeding on his video screen. Kefka was hoping for something more monstrous. Is that armor, or is that the magic Hojo's shedding? Where are his eyes? Blood spattering, magic in the air and it's like being home again. Is his mind leaking like 128's did?

"Doctor Hojo, I presume?"
