The sudden movement from one of the cafe's tables distracted him from the monster he was describing, and he turned his attention away from Yuffie. The voice and the smell of cigarettes confirmed it before he even fully caught sight of the man.
"Cid? What are you doing here?" Nanaki asked as he trotted over to the pilot, surprise clear in his voice.

"Red," he said as he nodded to Nanaki and completely ignored Yuffie. "How's it goin'? I don't know what I'm doin' here or I'd be glad t'tell ya? What the hell is this place, anyway?" he asked, since Nanaki seemed to at least be familiar with the area.
He finally spared a glance for Yuffie and responded to her disgusted greeting. "What, an' I'm supposed'a be happy t'see you? I don't think so. Why th'hell d'you hafta be here, huh? I coulda been happy, dammit!"

Quickly, he launched into a brief summary. "This place is called Never Was. It is a world separate from our own, and has residents from many different worlds trapped here. There has been no concrete way out found, and the world itself is quite odd. Weather changes constantly, for example. And there have been several odd events that have not harmed the residents, but shake up the town."
Once the bickering started, Nanaki's ears flattened back against his skull. He knew the two weren't the best of friends, and that they argued more than they ever agreed with each other, but this was a bit much, and bordered on genuine dislike. "Enough, you two," he said, sounding tired.
