Given that his fingers have yet to heal, necessitating a large amount of inactivity on Bran's part, it's probably not surprising that he's had time to think. And well, being far more entertaining than his classwork or his classmates, the Nexus has occupied the majority of those thoughts. Not just think either -- Bran has come up with a plan ( Read more... )

And, as it happens, Will is in luck (fancy!)

Melou has still not gotten a chance to go back, and it's making him a little nervous, truth be told. He's still wearing the same clothes, in case he ends up unexpectedly leaving, still wearing his sword belted on at his waist, still wearing the same woeful expression of a boy whose dog just died.

He is, however, trying to do a little practise for much the same reasons, and when they come to the courtyard they'll find him stabbing energetically at an invisible foe. His style and his skill are--almost perfect. It's a little disturbing, considering how inoffencive he's always been.

It is disconcerting. Will stops quietly, so as not to disturb Melou -- and he is sure it is Melou without having to wait for Bran. It's not just the resemblance he shares with Mordred either -- being an Old One does have some perks.

Bran almost walks right into Will. "What did you do -- oh." Bran pauses to watch Melou practice. He doesn't need to know anything about sword-craft to know that Melou holds the blade like a professional -- hard to reconcile with the young man he remembers and has been seeking. Maybe Will is right -- they don't really know what they're getting into here ...

Bran mentally shakes himself, stepping forward and waiting a lull in Melou's activity to hail him. "You're a hard man to find," he greets him. "Hello, Melou."

He looks up and actually smiles--and that turns out to be his other hidden talent. When he smiles it's reminiscent of his uncle Gawain, a beautiful bright smile that warms you and delights you.

"Good morrow!" He lets the sword fall to ease.
