Chuck doesn’t often have to raise his voice. When a vampire speaks, humans generally tend to listen. It’s an amazing aspect of the human self-preservation instinct. They can literally sense the danger when one of Chuck’s kind is near.
Or. Most of them can. John Casey seems to be an unfortunate exception.
“I am calm,” says the man in question, but he doesn’t lower his guns - either of them.
Chuck sighs and looks at his family. “Sure ‘ya are, buddy…”
And so are Chuck’s parents, of course - an endless source of comfort and support in Chuck’s otherwise chaotic life. Unlife. Whatever.
Ellie looks concerned, and Awesome looks optimistic - as always. Chuck had Alice get Jasper out of the house when he heard John’s car start up the drive. Edward looks more concerned than Ellie, but that doesn’t surprise Chuck. Chuck would probably cringe at some of the stuff he guesses lives inside John Casey’s head and Edward, with his special gift, doesn’t have to guess ( ... )
