How far along Torchwood are you? Interesting point about the laughing vs surliness of the Brit & Yankee tv shows. I haven't really noticed. But I did notice that British shows are more relaxed when showing emotions in general, and there was one show, Keen Eddie (short lived, unfortunately) where the subtext was so deliciously blatant, I'm not sure to call it that. Heee.
Also, THANK YOU for pointing out the Donal Strachey movies... you and Chlare both got me into it. Too bad it's too late for me to join the tim-don-athon, plus I'm busy as heck, but I'll be sure to check out the entries. Those boys are damned adorable. Aaaahhh.

That is it exactly! Americans play it much closer to the vest when it comes to feelings and even sex.
I'm only two episodes into Torchwood but I think I'm already hooked :p Very interesting stuff. The relaxed-with-emotions thing definitely holds true for Torchwood. I can't think of any tv show in America that would have had the balls to put a full sex scene, a woman/woman kiss, and an orgasmic energy alien all in one episode. Much less the second one :p
