Netherworld Atlas

Because the Netherworld is a very, very, very large place, here is a somewhat convenient list of locations of interest! As new locations are discovered, founded, or made up spontaneously, they will be added here. There are short descriptions...well, doing what they do: describing the destination.

This is a list (but not a completely comprehensive one!) describing known and common locations throughout the Netherworld. It is separated into two sections: One detailing locales in or around Overlord Baal's castle and another listing areas visitable via the Dimensional Gate. The Gate is easy to use and requires no permission or anything at all; in fact, the gatekeeper is never there. With the Dimensional Gate locations, a list of common monsters is given, but feel free to assume just about any demon can be found anywhere and remember to check the Bestiary for non-Disgaean monsters that could be in these locations!

If you'd like an addition to this list to be made, please reply here and give the name, description, and the reason for the addition. An example can be the Hakurei Shrine, which was created at Reimu Hakurei's order and is a legitimate locale. If you'd like a picture to be incorporated, please make it 400 pixels long and 300 pixels high and link us to it.

The Overlord's Castle

-Baal's Castle
His Lord of Terrorship's home. Miles long, miles high, and all-around enormous, it is a castle fit for several thousand kings. Inside of it are entire villages, cities, towns, stores, and other locations, including the residency of nearly the entire Netherworld's population. It would be no exaggeration to say the castle covers the majority of the planet. It is constantly in a state of deconstruction and reconstruction.

-Cafeteria
The main location for residents of Baal's Castle to get fed. The food here various from edible to nauseating to delicious all depending on the employee working at the time. The room is enormous, having enough room to fit every character and many more. Rumor has it this is the cafeteria for only this portion of the castle and hundreds more are littered throughout the entirety of the castle. Food here is not free, so your characters are going to need to find a way to deal with that.

-Netherworld Academy
What world is complete without a school? Here, humans and demons and everything in-between can learn the most fundamental basics of any education: seduction, torture, and physical education. Attendance is mandatory but not enforced. In compensation for going to school, characters get free food. If your character is attending school, please comment here. It is good for character interaction if the teachers know who is attending their classes. The school also doubles as Overlord Baal's primary source of soldiers for his vast army: demons are taught the necessary skills to cause pain to other people and are then sent off to battle in the name of the Lord of Terror.

-Library
Though most demons do not realize it, the most prominent and successful ones do: knowledge is power. As is like everything in regards to power when it comes to Overlord Baal, the library is ludicrous. It is enormous and filled with more books than one could ever read in even a demon's lifetime. The contents include but are not limited to: many texts on the Netherworld's history; numerous magical tomes; biological information on the flora and fauna of the Netherworld; and issues of the mind-rotting magazine Nether Jump.

-Living Quarters
Where each character lives. They are completely furnished, but usually lacking windows. Electric-powered torches add both light and warmth. They have a habit of changing size and shape to accommodate newly-arrived residents. Room assignments are enforced by the castle guards: Characters can sometimes manage to spend a night or two at another's room (due to the guards being dimwitted and lazy), but otherwise they'll either be dragged back to their original room or eventually find themselves magically transported to their proper living quarters while they sleep.

-Rosen Queen
The local store chain which has a monopoly on all goods and services. They have both a standard section and a specialty section. If Rosen Queen doesn't sell it, you won't be able to find it.

-Dark Assembly
The center of Netherworld bureaucracy. As with everything else in the Netherworld, the government functions on loosely-defined rules and runs on a 'when we feel like it' mindset. Without resident requests, things rarely get done. However, some Parties do pass bills now and again, generally for their own benefit or amusement. A maximum of fifteen Senators serve on the Dark Assembly, but due to poor motivation and dedication, they are rarely--if ever--all in attendance. If you or your character has something they wish to ask for, please read the rules and attempt to pass a bill.

Town

The town is like any typical Netherworld town: vaguely Medieval-esque, dirty, and not a place you want to be at night. Or most other times of the day, for that matter. Regardless, there are some interesting locales here, including the Wasted Baciel Tavern.

Wasted Baciel Tavern

The local tavern and eatery, aside from the cafeteria. This is actually located outside of Baal's Castle in the local town. Maids and waitresses--generally Succubi and Nekomatas--in cute and/or sexy uniforms wait on every patron hand-and-foot while Prinnies work as bartenders. If you need a place to get wasted or spend a night picking up potential dates, this is the place. It was built, named, and founded for Senator Wasted, a Baciel. It is owned and operated by a Catsaber, who also tends to the bar when necessary.

-Bathhouse / Onsen
A simple bathhouse using the immense geothermal power of the Netherworld to warm nice little ponds for people to relax in. There are 'Female Only', 'Male Only', 'Neither', and 'Unisex' areas. It is often frequented by Senator Horndog.

-Hakurei Shrine
A simple red and white shrine run by the Touhou shrine maiden Reimu Hakurei. It is holy ground (or as holy as ground can get in the Netherworld) and the shrine maiden's job is to quell problems caused by demons, purify demonically tainted objects and locations, and host periodic feasts.

-Yuyuko's Magical Death Garden
A vast, city-sized botanical garden. The majority of it is filled with very dangerous plants and plant-themed monsters, and one can get lost in its labyrinthine halls almost effortlessly. Many people wander in and are never seen again. In some of the safer regions of the garden, the plants have been tamed, and usually won't attack anyone who comes by.
Common monsters: Flora Beast, Wood Golem, Eryngi, tentacle vines

-The Zerg Hive Cluster
Filling a valley nearby the castle, the Zerg have taken this valley and somehow made it even stranger than the natural terrain of the Netherworld. Organic goop covers every surface and strange living towers sprout out of the ground, towering into the sky, accomplishing tasks best left unsaid. Enter at your own risk, for unless you are somehow protected (or maybe expected?), you probably won't come back out.
Common monsters: Zerglings, Hydralisks, Mutalisks, Ultralisks

--Dracula's Castle
The castle appeared on a steep (but still walkable), narrow hill within a stone's throw of Baal's castle. Since its arrival, many of Dracula's old minions have been transformed into native creatures to better fit the netherworld, though a few 'normal' creatures still lurk inside. The layout is nonsensical and suggests only someone really deranged would design such a place. It is a good place to level, but not if one also wishes to stay alive. Dracula does not abide by having intruders stomping about in his domain, so unless given permission, or having a convenient Mr Gency's Exit, it's not recommended to just walk in.
Common Monsters: Bats, Flora Beasts, Spirits, Marionettes, Roc, Slime, Undead, Succubi

-Great Japanese Empire's Paranormal Phenomena Bureau of Measures
A quaint but functional building near a frequently-used set of train tracks (whether there were either trains or a track there before the building's construction is unknown) housing a foreign agency imported by the Dark Assembly to study the Netherworld for the betterment of science in its human homeworld.
Common monsters: Bureaucrats

The Dimensional Gate

Asphodel Meadows

One of the more peaceful locations in Overlord Baal's Netherworld. The meadows are fields of grass, grains, and flowers. It's a very pretty place and there's not much else to be said for it. This is often a common starting place for adventurers. Strange stones can be found here or there, likely from a long-forgotten culture.
Common monsters: Roc, Mystic Beast, Warcat, Flora Beast, Succubi

Cavern of Erebus

A long, sprawling network of caves beneath the surface of the Netherworld. It's dark, damp, and dangerous: perfect for dungeon crawling. The further down you go, the more dangerous it becomes. There are various mosses and lichens, along with mysterious underground springs with flowers and trees. There are occasionally rivers to be found: both of the water and lava varieties.
Common monsters: Slime, Rifle Demon, Eryngi, Zombie Dragon, Orc, Entei

Cocystus Wasteland

A perpetually cold and freezing land in the most northern regions of the Netherworld. Here, snow and ice are commonplace throughout the entire year and living is difficult. Only the most hardy of demons survive in this climate.
Common monsters: Holy Dragon, Orc, Felynn, Mystic Beast, Dragon

Galactic Junkyard

This is a bizarre place which once served as a gateway between Baal's Netherworld and the parallel Celestial and Human worlds. As a result, it has some strange sights which can not be found elsewhere in the Netherworld. The junkyard rests atop numerous floating pieces of land, levitating so high as to be technically in space rather than in the atmosphere of the Netherworld; don't worry, however: the Galactic Junkyard has an atmosphere and gravity of its own, so no floating away or suffocating. Convenient, huh?
Common monsters: Grim Reaper, Undead, Zombie Dragon, Spirit, Surt

Lethe Forest

An enormous sprawling desert. To traverse from one end of this forest to the other would take incredible amounts of time and the deepest parts of the forest are completely unexplored and home to vicious beasts. The outer limits of the forest, however, are relatively peaceful and quite pretty.
Common monsters: Wood Golem, Winged, Zombie, Eryngi, Flora Beast

Phlegethon Desert

An enormous dry desert. Here, water is as precious as gold; this could very well be the most dangerous place in the Netherworld, simply due to the heat. There are, however, oasises to be found. Be careful when coming here. That said, there seems to be an ancient civilization which once thrived here. Their ruins can be found underneath the sand. Serpents swim through the sand as though it were water, so take care.
Common monsters: Zombie, Serpent, Zombie Dragon, Dragon, Surt, Entei

Sea of Acheron

An incredibly vast ocean, sprawling across a vast portion of the Netherworld. Its depths have never been fully explored and it is populated by numerous sea monsters which have not been officially recorded. This ocean is populated by many, many pirates who prey on other ships. The beaches are nice. There are innumerable islands strewn throughout the sea, most of which have never been visited; some islands are populated by Succubi who use their siren call to seduce seamen.
Common monsters: Serpent, Aqua Demon, Holy Dragon, Succubi

Sheol Mountain Range

A very long and very tall series of mountains and volcanoes. Some are small and strewn with vegetation and wildlife while others are enormous volcanoes spewing rivers of lava constantly. Perfect for the hardy adventurer.
Common monsters: Felynn, Dragon, Surt, Flora Beast, Warcat,

Swamp Styx

A ridiculously enormous and disgusting swamp. Very rare monsters and even rarer plants can be found here; enormous rivers flow deeply into the swamp, allowing passage by ship. However, take care not to be stuck in the muck. This is a common place of study for those interested in magics and medicines.
Common monsters: Wood Golem, Aqua Demon, Serpent, Slime, Roc
