You know, if California somehow gets traction on the idea, or even gains popularity of the idea of succession, I would have more respect for them.

I've been hearing about what Gov. Schwartsnegger(sp?) has been saying these last few weeks on NPR.... he certainly says what's on his mind.

I spend enough time in CA to know that I don't like the traffic laws, sales taxes, and a few other things (such as city and road planning). However, I will say that they could certainly stand on their own, especially with the ideals stated for reasons on that site you linked here.

Thank you, Sir, for that bit of intellectual brain candy.

But, if it don't take hold and the idea isn't presented in a more public medium (such as town hall meetings, etc.), then I will still think of CA as a "not so nice state to even visit let alone live in".

Los Angeles is a pain in the ass to get around in.

I have to say, as a person who has never been west of St. Louis MO... If the movement gets any attention here, it will be more for "those wacky Californian antics."

That said, I think South Florida should secede. We are SOOOOOO not the Deep South. I wonder if the Conch Republic would let us join them...?

Maybe the dumb@$$ should look at how many republicans are in office right now in Ca. The California Electoral College is about the only group who is still hardcore democrat.

California even voted against same sex marriages.

Besides, I seem to remember a few states trying this a few years back; it was called the civil war. Didn't work then either.

Well, shoot. Last I heard Measure 36, the amendment to the Oregon State Constitution passed regarding anti-same-sex-marriage. I wonder what's next?

Segragation, and all other things that parallel the 1950's for biggotry? Don't you love how America runs in cycles?

But, I digress. Last count (a week or so ago), also from what I heard, the Canadian Immagration Office is currently flooded with Americans seeking citizenship post Nov. 2nd. What does that tell you?
